Data-Driven Retail Energy Audit 2023
By combining a traditional energy audit with detailed data assessment, this project provided a comprehensive understanding of energy usage patterns across 12 retail stores. The approach enabled accurate identification of inefficiencies and the development of targeted strategies focusing on operational management and behavioral change.
Key Strategies & ECMs
- Lighting Controls: Timer optimization, twilight sensor integration, motion sensors, switching off lights in unoccupied areas.
- HVAC Controls: Adjusting setpoints/setbacks, activating energy-saving mode, utilizing natural ventilation, VFDs on pumps.
- Plug Load Management: Turning off/unplugging devices when not in use, using power strips with on/off switches.
Note: This ECM list is not exhaustive, as the primary focus was on management and behavioral measures.
Estimated Impact
- Annual Energy Savings: 125,739 kWh
- CO₂ Emissions Reduction: 88,458 kgCO₂e
- Energy Consumption Reduction: 12%
Result: Enhanced operational efficiency and reduced environmental footprint through practical, low-cost interventions that require minimal capital investment but deliver significant impact.
